Megan’s Story

Hello my name is Megan, I am a 12 year old Type I Diabetic, I have had this disease since I was 2, you probably look at me and think it must be so hard to deal with it, but it’s truly not. People seem to think you can’t do what they can such as learn to play various instruments, I have. Or what its like to dance a beautiful contemporary solo, I have. Or what it’s like to get first place and stand on that podium, I have.

I wouldn’t have been able to if I didn’t go to the Diabetic camp. That one week of summer were you fit in, everyone and understands what you go through every day of your life. That one week gave me confidence to stand up and exceed my dreams. At camp they always tell us “Know who you are and thrive to be that person.”   I am Megan, and this is my story.
